When you have mapped the circuits in the home, decide where you can install new ones to take over some of the heavy electrical load. If the laundry room is not already on a separate circuit, it is often a good place to start because the washer and dryer can be put on a circuit with one duplex outlet. Even if the dryer is gas heated, it has an electric motor to spin the load, and a new circuit can take the load of both washer and dryer off the old wiring. The existing circuit can then easily handle the remaining load still wired to it.

Other places for new circuits are the kitchen, where several appliances can be conveniently grouped on a new breaker, and the furnace or utility room. The latter is often a good location for the network
